Masonic Clocks

Bro. D. Paton, the Charity Steward of Expatiation Lodge No. 9290, has produced a range of rather magnificent Masonic Clocks. They vary in size from a large wall clock (approx 50cm or 20”) down to a small white personal travel alarm clock. The large wall clock would grace any lodge room or Masonic centre and would even look fine in a Brother’s own study. Bro. Paton hopes that every lodge as well as Masonic centre will want to purchase one because every sale will benefit Masonic Charity.

A great deal of time and effort was spent by Bro. Paton, researching and producing the symbols on the clock face. Each clock comes with a detailed explanation of the Masonic symbolism and the thought behind the design. The clocks are intended to teach the onlooker to reflect on the importance of Charity and the fact that all Freemasons are expected to willingly give of their time, helping those less fortunate than themselves. As Bro. Paton says, “Happiness stays with those who give it (i.e. their time) away”.

Every clock sold will benefit the New Masonic Samaritan Fund during the period of our 2005 Festival Appeal. A large wall clock is currently on display at Grand Lodge in the Library and Museum and one of the first to be displayed may be seen in the Masonic Hall at Lymington, Hampshire.

Bro. Paton has even produced a short ten minute lecture regarding the symbolism on the clocks and his thoughts about Masonic Charity, in the hope that this will stimulate brethren into giving more of their time and energy supporting worthy causes; whether Masonic or non-Masonic. Lodges that wish to receive Bro. Paton’s lecture may contact him at Pinetops House, 67 Ramley Road, Lymington, Hampshire.
