January 2015 Provincial Grand Master presents £50,000 cheque to the Brain Tumour Charity
On Wednesday 21st January 2015 the Provincial Grand Master, Mike Wilks and his wife, Kay Wilks visited the Headquarters of the Brain Tumour Society in Farnborough to present a cheque for £50,000 from The Freemasons’ Grand Charity.
The donation will go towards research into the treatment of adult and paediatric brain tumours. High- grade gliomas are the most common type of brain tumour, accounting for 85% of cases diagnosed each year. These types of tumours cannot currently be cured and grow quickly, spreading to other parts of the brain and spinal cord. This research will look at new approaches with agents that lack toxicity and do not require repeated invasive procedures.
The cheque was received by the Chief Executive of the Brain Tumour Charity, Sarah Lindsell.
